This week we’re talking about ‘star’ shapes. In the water this week we can play in a car wash, in the sand we can cook.
The activities this week will include: concert practice, picture matching board games, forest school, using the sound bags, christmas star magnet hunt, making star wands, rhyming game, colouring pasta and playing with Pixie robot.
We went on a listening walk this morning, we listened very hard! We heard: a car, a bird and the sound of the wind.
We thought you would like to know that last week our pre-school was invited to put together a display for an Early Years Conference organised by Suffolk County Council. This was an excellent opportunity for us to share our practice with other pre-schools and nurseries. It also helped us to learn more about what works well for other settings and be inspired to try new ideas and activities at our pre-school. The staff have all had a part to play with this, sharing ideas (and giving honest feedback on some of the initial display suggestions!), brainstorming to put together a display that demonstrates the way we ignite children’s imagination; whilst also working extra hours to cover for the preparation and day of the conference.
We had some great feedback from other practitioners, one of which was “This display makes me want to go and play the most!”.
A big thank you to all the team for all your help and hard work!
Using our fingers to make pictures on cellophane and print onto our paper.
This week we’re talking about and looking for triangles as we play. In the sand we can make houses for small world animals using lots of different natural materials. In the water we can find out which things sink and which things float!
The activities this week will include: Christmas concert practice, making triangle bunting, cellophane painting, Forest School activity, making concert props, playing with magnets, using the laptop, making triangle boats for a display, going on a listening walk and triangle printing.
We chopped lots of fruit today for our fruit salad.
At lunchtime several of the children noticed that containers in their lunch boxes were rectangles and squares.
Thank you for your donations of wine for our fundraiser at the school Frost Fayre, they are very much appreciated.
Thank you for your generosity with the shoe box appeal, we handed over 8 in total which were well received.
This week we are talking about ‘squares’ and ‘rectangles’ and trying to find them as we play inside and in the garden.
In the water this week we can catch lots of different animals in little nets and try to find the number shell to match. In the sand we have different sized shape moulds.
The activities this week will include: parachute games in P.E., making junk models and labels for them, making marks in toothpaste, a forest school session, group music time, handa’s surprise (story sack), playing with the rhyming pots, making fruit salad, making a ‘my house’ collage and playing with ‘moon dust’.
Thank you for all your support in helping us to raise some money for Children in Need, we raised £13.50. We invited our friends from Nursery and had a treasure hunt in the forest where we looked for some of our favourite film characters, including Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Cinderella and ‘Anna and Elsa’. Afterwards, we read a story about how Pudsey Bear helps children and then we had a biscuit for our snack.
