June 2014 Newsletter

Welcome back to the second part of the Summer Term at Roundabout. This half term we will be talking about animals and we’ll be reading stories, singing songs and using our new computer to find out more about them.

Our themed area will be a Vet’s Surgery with lots of sick animals for the children to look after. There will be bandages, stethoscopes and charts to fill in. We’ll be giving the children the opportunity to develop language skills as well as talking to them about caring for animals and our environment.

We will be featuring a different animal story or rhyme each week on the interest table. If you have any pictures or stories your child would like to share with us, we’d love to see them. We also welcome visits from any pets that wouldn’t be too stressed by a visit to pre-school! We had Cara the veterinary nurse’s dog in for a short visit in March and the children were really pleased to see her.

We have a new website!! Dylan (George’s dad) very kindly offered to take on this project and I’m sure you’ll want to join us in thanking him for all the effort he has put into this. The new website can be found at www.debenhamroundaboutpreschool.co.uk
There is also a blog with photos of recent activities. Please remember to return the permission slip if you are happy for your child to be included in this.

In June we have planned a family outing to Banham Zoo. The pre-school committee will be funding the coach and the entry fee for each pre-school child. We hope you will be able to join us! You should already have received details of the outing. We do need all forms to be returned by the 9th in order to book transport.

On Saturday the 12th of July, we will be having an informal Sport’s Day and Picnic and all are welcome to come along and join the fun! There will be races for the children to take part in and refreshments will be served by the committee. Details about this event are attached.

This year we have 19 children leaving us to go to a reception class in their local school. We’d like to mark this important step, by taking a group photo on sport’s day. There will also be a short presentation to all our leavers.

You will be receiving a parent/carer survey shortly either by email or a hard copy will be sent if you don’t have an email address. It is so important for us to hear your opinions and we will act on any points you raise. We do hope that you feel you can talk to us at any time about concerns you have about your child’s care or education. We will be having a parent’s evening in July to give you a chance to catch up with your child’s key person and read their Learning Journey.

Best wishes,

Fiona, Kath, Pip, Jo and Beccy
