Makaton signs this week

This week we have been singing and signing “Down in the Jungle” It’s lovely to see the children joining in with the actions. We still continue to use signs with songs from the previous weeks and the children are picking it up very well ūüôā

Free Play

Free play is giving children opportunities where they are independently creating experiences, learning about the world around them and interacting with other people.  This picture taken is a lovely way to showcase this.

A small group of children were engaging in free play where they were, “Having a BBQ”.¬† A social event unfolded, sharing out food for their friends, discussing ideas and thinking about the needs of others.¬† It’s great to step back sometimes and quietly observe, allowing children freedom to express themselves¬† ūüôā

Nasal spray live flu vaccination

Dear Parents/Carers

Nasal spray live flu vaccination.

Earlier in the term, we sent you a letter asking for your help by letting us know if your child comes into contact with anyone with measles, chicken pox or shingles.  We really appreciate the contact we have had from our families in response to this letter.

As the winter fast approaches, children are now being offered a live flu vaccination in the form of a nasal spray.  As one of the children in our pre-school is receiving medical treatment for cancer this puts them at risk if they are exposed to this live vaccination (when administered by nasal spray) if they are not vaccinated themselves.    As the vaccination process is currently underway across the county, please could you let us know immediately if your child has had or is due to have the vaccination.

We do hope that you understand the health and wellbeing of the child in our care who is at risk does depend on the co-operation of all other parents and we hope you will help us.  We will keep you updated once we have received some more instructions and advice.

Once again, we would like to thank everyone for taking to time to keep us informed should their child have come into contact with chicken pox, measles, shingles and the live nasal flu vaccination.

If you have any queries, then please do not hesitate to contact us.

With kind regards

Pip Long

Pre-school Leader

A couple of gentle reminders please!

Firstly a reminder that tomorrow, Friday 5th October, the Year 6 children in the Primary School are hosting a coffee morning to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. To help support this very worthwhile cause we have asked if they could supply us with some buns / biscuits for our snack. If you would like to show your support and send in some pennies on the morning to help them fund-raise for this event, we know they would be very grateful.

Secondly, if your child had their photo taken by Tempest Photography on Monday 24th September, and you have not yet returned your order form, please do so asap, as we hope to send the order off at the middle of next week.    If you would rather order them online at your own time, that is absolutely fine!

Preschool AGM

Don’t forget its the preschool AGM on Thursday 11th October at 7:30pm.

If you would like to join the committee or find out whats involved, please come along. Everyone is welcome.

Hopefully we will see you there.

Goldilocks

Our Makaton song of the week this week is Goldilocks.¬† Simone has been busy setting up the table with props to support the song. Please find actions and words below to learn with your child. Have fun! ūüôā

Our first visit to the woods this term!

We had our first venture to the woods this term and what fun we had!   The weather was absolutely glorious and as the sun shone, we had had the opportunity to talk about our shadows as we walked across the field.
The children seemed to take the small change to our normal routine in their stride which the grown ups were pleased with especially as this was the first time many of them had experienced our woodland play.
As usual, once we were in the woods we gathered together in the willow circle to talk about the ‘rules’ and how to keep ourselves safe whilst we played, we were very impressed with how quickly everyone learnt how to move safely and hold the sticks carefully.
A new addition to our weekly exploration to the woods is a hand washing station!  Kath fashioned some soap filled tights and hung them from a tree where we could all practice washing our hands!
