Last Day of Term

This afternoon we visited the Library and had a look at some books and shared a story together.   The last day of term has come round very quickly and we have said goodbye to some of our friends, some are moving on to school and some are moving to other settings, we wish them all well.

All the staff say a big thank you for all the lovely gifts they have received and wish everyone a good summer holiday.

Thank you very much again,

Pip, Kath, Jo, Beccy, Jane, Simone and Courtney

Water fun!

Lot’s of fun has been had moving the water around with the pipes, watching where the water was going and wondering why the water tray was empty!

Week Beginning 17th July 2017

This week we will be looking at  ‘Doing the Animal Bop!’ on the table.  In the water we can move the water around using pipes and containers, in the sand we can ‘plant’ and count.

The activities this week will include:  P.E. session, fly swat painting, listening game, using Beebot, making marks in toothpaste, playing in the sensory room, using the trim trail, soft play and a visit to the Library.

Sports Day – we did it!

Thank you to everyone who came and supported Sports Day – our
sunshine dances worked and the weather held out until the final three certificates were handed out!   We were so proud of all our competitors for joining in and also cheering their friends on.

We would also like to say a huge, big thank you to the committee for organising the amazing raffle and the much needed refreshment stall!   Many congratulations to all the winners.

Sports Day Update!

Pip has been checking the weather forecast this afternoon, we allegedly have a window of opportunity between 1 & 3pm tomorrow, therefore we are going for it starting at 1.30pm.  Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow.

Don’t forget the wonderful opportunity to win a holiday with Haven Holidays at Orchards Holiday Village Clacton on Sea with our raffle.

Week Beginning 10th July 2017

This week on the table we are looking at the book ‘Commotion in the Ocean’.  In the water we can play in the ‘deep blue sea’ and in the sand we can go ‘down on the farm’.

The activities this week will include:  a visit to the Library, painting on long paper in the garden, using the projector with dinosaurs, Sports Day, junk modelling, reading a story sack on the field, cooking, string painting, soft play in the garden and using the all weather play equipment.

Sports day update!

Dear Parents/Carers
We are planning to hold our sports day this Tuesday from 1.30pm onwards.  However, currently the weather is not looking brilliant!  Therefore, if the forecast suggests that it may be too wet to continue on Tuesday afternoon we will change the time/date.    The committee are currently still planning on selling raffle tickets on Tuesday morning at drop off (9.00am) so there’s another chance to purchase some tickets to win a fantastic holiday with Haven, based outside Clacton-on-Sea or some cases of Aspall Cyder.
We will keep you updated about any decision we make about Tuesday – we hope you will understand if we have to change the date/time.
With kindest regards

Dear Parents/Carers

You may not be aware that Debenham Roundabout Pre-school is a charity and run by a volunteer based committee. What this means is that, unlike most schools, we do not have a board of governors to run the school nor a PTA to raise funds.

As you can imagine, more hands make light work so we are in the market for some new recruits!

Our committee is mostly made up of parents (both mum’s and dad’s!) who volunteer their time to help with all aspects of running the Preschool and have or did have, children at the preschool.  We are a friendly bunch and welcome mums, dads and regular carers of children to join the committee where absolutely no knowledge of early years childcare is needed!  All we ask is for some of your time, knowledge and expertise to help us keep the preschool running.

Committee members can volunteer to help with many things like:

– Setting up and/or running of fundraising events.

– Working stalls at fundraising events.

– ‘Tidy Up Days’ in the garden over the summer.

– Children’s Christmas Party

– Refreshments at Parents Evening.

– Maintenance jobs around the preschool.

We’re always looking for parents with skills in areas like building, gardening, management, accountancy, marketing, or parents with close links to our local community, but in truth, most of us joined the committee with parenting skills, enthusiasm and no other experience! For those wanting to take a more active role in the running of the Pre-school, we have other more involved roles such as Chair of the Committee, Secretary and Treasurer, all of which need to be filled for the Pre-school to operate.

Joining the committee is easy and involves less work than you might think. We meet every six weeks to discuss fundraising and the running of the preschool and run four or five main fundraising events during the year.

The committee also act as trustees of the Pre-school charity, so a lack of committee members could mean the Preschool has to close (Wetheringsett preschool was forced to close for this reason a few years ago).

Come along and hear what we have to say.  See what is involved and how your help can make a big difference to the education and learning environment for the children of today and future generations! New committee members are needed and welcome at any time of the year so please don’t leave it to somebody else!

If you feel you can volunteer in any shape or form and give up some of your time to us then please do contact:

A Visit from the Dental Nurse

This morning we had a visit from Esther the Dental Nurse, we learnt all about healthy and not so healthy snacks and how to brush our teeth properly.  Some children also dressed up as a Dentist, a Nurse and a patient!
