Sharing resources and ideas.
This week we are looking at Aspect 4 of the letters and sounds programme – rhyme & rhythm, we will be making lots of rhythms and rhymes during the week.
The sand this week has transformed into a building site! there are bricks, trowels, spirit levels, hard hats, paint brushes and tape measures to build with. In the water we are using jugs to fill different sized bottles.
The activities this week will include: practising sports day races, making laminated words to trace, Forest School activity, Pixie Robot with numbers, using rhyming pots, playing with the torches, a shape hunt on the field, rhyming puppets and play doh.
This week we have been talking about ‘body percussion’ and the different ways we can make sounds using our hands, feet or patting our tummies – the children have been very creative! This morning, we brought in a huge roll of paper and the children drew around their friends, adding faces, hair, glasses and even toenails!
We’ve had lots of time in the garden today! We did some gardening and the children helped to sweep up the leaves and colllect them in a wheelbarrow. Playing ‘what’s the time Mr Wolf?’ and ‘hide and seek’, taking turns with our friends and doing lots of counting. This afternoon we went on the all weather playground for a different sort of challenge. We climbed, slithered, jumped and swung on all the different equipment.
This week we are looking at ‘Aspect 3 – Body percussion’ and discovering all the sounds we can make with different parts of our body! In the sand this week we can make Ice Creams and talk about quantity and use language related to money. In the water we are bathing babies.
The activities this week will include: Sports day games, Superhero lolly sticks, Forest school activity, Dinosaur mud prints, board games, usinf the trim trail, Peppa pig cutting and sticking, shaving foam numbers, making life sized children pictures and playing the Pied Piper music game.
A reminder! We have arranged for the local Health Visiting Team to come for an informal drop in session at pre-school from 11.00am onwards next Wednesday 22nd June. If you have any concerns relating to your child’s development, eg: sleeping, feeding, behaviour problems or toilet training then please do pop in for an informal and confidential chat.
They are also able to offer support or provide information for breast feeding, women’s health, family planning, dental health and parenting groups.

This week we are talking about Aspect 2 of the Letters and Sounds programme – Instrumental Sounds, we will be experimenting with lots of musical instruments.
In the sand this week we can play with the Pirates – digging for treasure. In the water we can pour, fill and empty.
The activities this week will include: making a ‘special’ card, playing a listening game, Forest School activity, going to the Zoo, bubbly handwashing fun, story sacks, making instruments and playing an instrument matching game.
